Koman Ilel means “Collective View ” in Maya Tzotzil. We are a group of people who works collectively to build a different kind of communication.

Koman Ilel (Collective View), KMN Group, makes communication for everybody and by everybody, not because everybody has their say, but because everybody is included in deciding what is said. We are a multicultural group with different roots and we work together to build another reality. For this reason we use the media and the word. The word as a basis for building another reality.

Without capital letters, without red carpets, without big speeches... The big stories are told with simple words. All these things depend on the way we enunciate them. We enunciate the information with hope.

We want to tell the other reality to let the information escape from the silence, from the obscurity, to inspire other changes, to see the world not like some cruel and terrible hole, but like a place where we share experiences and efforts with people who don´t give up, who dream, who work. A place where, despite the daily injustices, hope predominates.

We don´t make up the stories, we tell them,  relating the events we find in reality. As the Mass Media does, but with one difference: we emphasize the experiences that motivate people to go forward, the experiences that give us inspiration and strength.

The Mass Media and their interests spreadsomething else... that the world is full of injustice, crime and desolation, but we don´t need to hear it every five seconds. We feel we have to proclaim and celebrate the fact that there are still people in the world who fight for change. we have to reclaim the efforts for change, the people who nurture our hopes, and we have to search daily for the examples that help us to keep taking the necessary steps toward building a better future.

Koman Ilel, Collective View, is not just a group of people, it is another way to look at the world, it is a way to reinvent it.

PRODUCTION

Through spoken and written word, audio, video and graphic communication, we want to spread our message and the message of communities and organizations who share our points of view and our way of understanding the world. We want to move hearts and we attempt to do so through the creation of communicative materials.

TRAINING AND ACCOMPANIMENT

Communication by everybody for everybody means that communication shouldn´t be in the experts´ hands. It is the responsibility of  everyone who has had the opportunity to learn technical knowledge in communicationto share what they know, so that communication not be the exclusive right of a certain few and therefore that the manner in which the world is portrayed by the  Media not be that of just a small Group.

SELF-CONSTRUCTION

“To build another world” is a beautiful idea. The only way to turn it into reality and go beyond the simplistic concept is to change it into action. This is why our ideals, first of all, are thought through collectively and undergo constant reflection and criticism. We achieve this by seeing ourselves as older and younger brothers and sisters the whole time. We know that we always have something to learn from and something to teach eachother.
